Maintenance Assistant

Job overview

The Maintenance Assistant role is onsite in Suffolk, VA. Compensation is $17–$18 per hour. The position supports the safe and effective operation of Northern Cardinal Rehabilitation and Nursing, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. The assistant performs routine maintenance and general upkeep to help keep resident rooms, common areas, equipment, and grounds safe and functional. The work supports residents, staff, and visitors and includes responding to maintenance requests and reporting serious concerns.

What you'll do

• Perform routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting tasks
• inspect facilities and equipment for issues or hazards
• respond to maintenance requests and work orders
• maintain resident rooms, common areas, and outdoor spaces
• set up rooms and equipment for events or activities
• maintain required logs and records
• follow safety and health standards
• support HVAC, fire safety, and emergency systems
• assist with snow removal, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance
• escort contractors and vendors and ensure facility protocols are followed
• report serious maintenance issues and safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
