The Horticulturist role is onsite in Oberlin, OH, on a full-time basis. Compensation is not specified. The position is part of Kendal at Oberlin’s Facilities Services Team at a life plan community serving older adults. Working with the Grounds Manager, the horticulturist plans and performs care for the community’s trees, shrubs, plant beds, wetlands, prairies, woodlands, ponds, and arboretum. The role also supports grounds staff and residents through horticultural education and seasonal landscape care.

What you'll do

• Work with the Grounds Manager to plan and maintain trees, shrubs, perennials, plant beds, wetlands, prairies, woodlands, ponds, and the arboretum
• safely operate and maintain yard tools and grounds equipment
• provide horticultural education to grounds staff and the community
• help plan seasonal plant orders
• perform mowing, trimming, planting, seeding, fertilizing, pest and disease control, weeding, and irrigation
• clear roads and walkways of snow and ice
• respond to extra seasonal maintenance scheduling.
