Substitute Commercial Driver (CDL) is an onsite, as-needed role based in Astoria, NY, paying $24.00 per hour. HANAC is a New York City social services organization serving vulnerable populations; this position provides transportation for older adults. The driver transports clients to scheduled individual and group outings and helps ensure their safety and comfort. The role also includes vehicle inspections and upkeep, trip and mileage records, participant contribution collection, and office support when required.

What you'll do

• Safely transport older adults to and from scheduled group trips
• assist clients entering and exiting the van when needed
• ensure use of seatbelts, wheelchair brackets, and other safety devices
• complete passenger logs and collect participant contributions
• perform office tasks when required
• clean, inspect, sanitize, and maintain the vehicle
• report defects and maintain fuel, mileage, and repair records
• pick up and return the vehicle to the garage.

Why this role

Requires a valid New York State Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsements and at least one year of driving experience; Spanish or Greek bilingual ability is desirable but not required.
