Part-Time Bus Monitor

Job overview

The Part-Time Bus Monitor role is onsite in Trenton, NJ. Pay is $20.12 per hour. The schedule is 7:30–9:30 a.m. and 2:30–5:30 p.m., 25 hours per week during the 10-month school year. The role supports children enrolled in the Children’s Home Society of New Jersey Head Start Program. The monitor supervises children during bus routes and helps make transportation safe and pleasant. The role reinforces safe boarding and exiting, supports emergency readiness, communicates with families, and works with the driver and teachers to contribute to children’s positive experience and learning.

What you'll do

• Supervise children on bus routes
• greet parents and children
• support safe boarding and exiting and awareness of vehicle danger zones
• use and install child safety restraint systems
• follow emergency evacuation and response procedures
• follow child pick-up and release procedures
• assist the driver with pre- and post-trip vehicle checks
• operate and maintain special bus equipment
• encourage quiet activities, stories, games, or singing
• work with teachers to reinforce classroom learning.
