Homeless Services Outreach Specialist

The Homeless Services Outreach Specialist role is an onsite, full-time position in Omaha, NE, with primarily daytime hours and evening hours one day per week, Monday through Friday; some weekends may be required for special events. Compensation is not specified. Siena Francis House welcomes, shelters, and empowers people experiencing homelessness as they work toward safe and appropriate housing. The specialist conducts street-level outreach, assesses needs, and provides case management to help clients pursue housing. The role connects people with services and community resources while coordinating with partner agencies and the MACCH Continuum of Care outreach team.

What you'll do

• Conduct outreach to adults experiencing homelessness
• interview clients and assess needs in community settings
• develop housing plans and assist with applications and apartment searches
• use harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care strategies
• maintain client engagement
• connect clients with food, shelter, clothing, benefits, transportation, and other resources
• document assessments, referrals, and case notes
• coordinate with internal staff, MACCH partners, and community agencies
• provide information and referrals and follow up on outcomes.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of relevant experience (which may include personal experience overcoming homelessness), a valid driver’s license, and proof of personal vehicle insurance. Spanish proficiency is advantageous.
