Math Tutor

The Math Tutor role is onsite in Los Angeles, CA, with pay of $24 per hour. Brotherhood Crusade is a nonprofit that works to enrich South Los Angeles residents through education, social services, and empowerment opportunities. The tutor supports at-risk students in grades 5–12, typically at a local library or another designated location. The tutor assesses students’ math needs, provides individualized or small-group instruction, and tracks progress. The work supports students’ learning goals and confidence while coordinating with Brotherhood Crusade staff, credentialed educators, families, and teachers.

What you'll do

• Assess math proficiency and learning needs
• develop tailored lesson plans and materials
• teach mathematical concepts and problem-solving
• guide students through problems and homework
• tutor one-on-one or in groups of up to five
• monitor and document progress
• prepare students for tests
• use math software and learning activities
• communicate with parents, guardians, and teachers
• maintain attendance and progress records
• create a safe and inclusive learning space.
