Network Engineer

This role supports the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) CyberPRIMES program, contributing to the cybersecurity workforce for the Defense Human Resources Activity. The role exists to manage external network-connectivity compliance and technical approval processes. It involves reviewing network implementations, firewall requirements, and ports, protocols, and services to ensure technical solutions align with Department of Defense and Defense Information Systems Agency standards.

What you'll do

• Support external network-connectivity compliance
• review technical network implementations
• evaluate firewall requests and ports, protocols, and services
• prepare and track Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) requests
• validate PPSM requests for accuracy
• identify network-boundary requirements
• review connectivity against the Connection Approval List (CAL)
• resolve noncompliant requests
• support exception processing
• maintain PPSM registration accuracy
• audit connectivity against technical implementations
• support Connection Approval Process (CAP) and Systems/Network Approval Process (SNAP)
• ensure compliance with DISA requirements
• support enterprise whitelisting
• coordinate with stakeholders to resolve connectivity issues.
