Senior Construction Superintendent

The Senior Construction Superintendent role is onsite in Minneapolis, MN, with periodic to frequent travel to locations within Xcel Energy’s operating companies. The anticipated starting base pay is $112,200–$150,000 per year. The position supports Major Capital Projects-Fixed Assets and construction across power-generation technologies, including wind, solar, battery energy storage, and combustion turbines. The superintendent leads construction teams and oversees field execution to meet safety, quality, schedule, cost, and performance objectives. The role also establishes construction standards and processes, manages contractor resources, and contributes to project planning, constructability, and budgeting.

What you'll do

• Qualify potential contractors and suppliers
• negotiate capital equipment purchases and construction contracts
• oversee field construction, safety, schedule, materials, quality controls, change control, cost forecasting, and reporting
• conduct constructability assessments
• build relationships with contractors, labor representatives, suppliers, and stakeholders
• lead direct reports and contracted staff
• support hiring, performance reviews, and team development.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field plus eight years of power-generation construction experience, or twelve years of such experience in lieu of a degree. Periodic to frequent travel is required.
