Security Officer — 4 PM–12 AM

The Security Officer role is onsite in Columbus, OH, with a listed shift of 4 PM–12 AM. Compensation is $16.50 per hour. The officer safeguards the physical assets, personnel, visitors, and property of the Ohio History Connection. The role maintains a visible security presence, monitors access and security systems, and responds to incidents and emergencies as directed. Patrols, reporting, and communication help protect the organization’s grounds, buildings, equipment, and people.

What you'll do

• Patrol grounds and buildings
• lock and unlock areas as directed
• monitor access and verify authorization
• respond to alarms, incidents, and emergencies
• provide first aid when necessary
• conduct inspections and investigations
• complete reports and logs
• communicate issues to the Security Lead or supervisor
• handle telephone and radio communications
• monitor alarm systems
• assist staff and visitors
• report weather or environmental concerns.

Why this role

Full-time, permanent position. Requires a high school diploma plus one to three years of work experience, or a relevant post-secondary degree or technical certification. CPR/First Aid certification is required; valid Ohio driver’s license is listed among desired skills. Schedule may vary and include evenings and weekends.
