The Duty Specialist role is onsite in Houston, TX. Compensation is not specified. The position supports DHL Express’s Billing Dispute Management organization and its customs duty and post-entry operations. The specialist investigates and resolves complex duty disputes, coordinates with customers and internal teams, and helps ensure customs-related decisions are accurate and compliant. The role also improves processes and develops the knowledge of query-handling teams through training and coaching.

What you'll do

• Manage complex and recurring duty disputes
• serve as escalation point for sensitive inquiries
• lead discussions with customers and internal stakeholders
• explain customs, duty, tax, valuation, classification, and post-entry concepts
• research customs regulations
• prepare, review, and submit duty drawback files
• coordinate documentation and resolution with brokerage, clearance, finance, and country teams
• improve processes
• develop training materials and lead training
• support compliance reviews and audits
• update the Global OTC US Regulatory Page.

Why this role

Requires an active U.S. Customs Broker license in good standing and 2–4 years of relevant duty brokerage, customs brokerage, compliance, drawback, or post-entry experience; non-hourly role shared with another Duty Specialist.
