Methodist Hospital Texsan is a full service 120 bed acute care hospital specializing as one of South Texas’s premier heart and orthopedic hospitals. The purpose of this role is to assess, treat, and care for patients with pulmonary disorders, administering therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities.

What you'll do

• Assess, treat, and care for patients with pulmonary disorders.
• Operate and set up devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration, aerosol generators, and disposable respiratory care products.
• Provide emergency care, including artificial ventilation, external cardiac massage, and assist staff with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Collect and analyze arterial blood gases.
• Follow physician orders for treatment and evaluate requirements for treatment.
• Monitor patient’s response to therapy.
• Consult with physicians, nurses and other health care professionals.

What we're looking for

Education

Graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy Program.

Experience

1 year previous Respiratory Therapy experience preferred
