Coater Apprentice – Second Shift (3 PM–11 PM)

The Coater Apprentice role is onsite in Sparta, MI, on the second shift from 3 PM to 11 PM. Compensation is not specified. The apprentice supports production by learning the coating process and coater operation. Under a coating operator’s direction, the apprentice learns to set up and operate the coater, handle materials, and monitor product quality. The role develops the skills needed to troubleshoot production and quality issues and, once trained, operate the coater when the operator is unavailable.

What you'll do

• Learn coater setup and operation
• check that material meets specifications and target speed
• safely operate a standup Hilo
• print pick lists and pull warehouse materials using FIFO
• transport finished rolls and return unused material
• load and splice rolls and fill the adhesive reservoir
• assist with cleanup and setup during job changes
• learn quality tests and adjustments
• perform shop-floor computer transactions
• maintain area housekeeping. Requires heavy lifting, including sliding and lifting shafts up to 100 pounds.
