The Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) — CLIA Surveyor is based onsite at a Los Angeles, CA office, with full-time Monday–Friday work and in-state and out-of-state day and overnight inspection travel. Pay is $57–$65 per hour. The role supports a California state public health agency’s CLIA Survey Section through ShareSTAFF. The surveyor conducts laboratory inspections and investigations to assess compliance with state and federal requirements. The role reviews findings, communicates deficiencies, maintains compliance records, and provides technical assistance to laboratories and stakeholders.

What you'll do

• Conduct onsite inspections of clinical and physician office laboratories for compliance with California Business and Professions Code and federal CLIA requirements
• conduct complaint investigations and follow-up inspections
• review survey reports and interpret laws
• coordinate inspection schedules
• communicate findings in exit interviews
• prepare deficiency reports and corrective action reviews
• maintain compliance information in state and federal databases
• provide technical assistance
• participate in legal proceedings and prepare enforcement documentation
• verify specimen adequacy, perform complex analyses, and validate test results.
