The Sous Chef role is onsite at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Pay is $17–$22 per hour. The position supports Chartwells Higher Ed campus food service at LSU. The sous chef helps the Executive Chef prepare and cook food, coordinates cooks and other food-service associates, and assumes kitchen responsibility when the Executive Chef is absent. The role supports timely production, food safety, sanitation, and consistent service.

What you'll do

• Prepare and cook food according to approved recipes and production standards
• supervise hourly food-service associates, including scheduling, training, and performance support
• store food safely
• ensure proper handling, presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures
• maintain sanitation of equipment and work areas
• respond to customer complaints
• explain menu items
• monitor inventory, deliveries, production, consumption, and waste.
