Principal Technical Architect

Job overview

The Principal Technical Architect role is hybrid, based in Leesburg, Virginia, and requires onsite work at a Northern Virginia client location up to three or four days per week. Compensation is not specified. Niyam delivers mission-critical IT solutions to U.S. federal government programs in emergency preparedness, civilian services, and law enforcement and public safety. The architect provides technical leadership across federal programs, guiding full-stack software architecture and delivery, including integration of AI and machine-learning capabilities. The role also mentors engineers and helps establish secure, scalable engineering practices across the organization.

What you'll do

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of secure, scalable software solutions
• define architecture standards and engineering practices
• design web, mobile, cloud, API, and AI-enabled solutions
• provide hands-on leadership through the software development lifecycle
• drive AI/ML, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code adoption
• collaborate with product, development, security, platform, and operations teams
• ensure security, reliability, accessibility, and performance
• maintain technical documentation and roadmaps
• mentor and coach team members.
