Substance Abuse Counselor

The Substance Abuse Counselor role is onsite in Washington, DC, with pay of $32 per hour plus a bonus structure. The counselor supports Behavioral Health Group’s mission to help patients recover from addiction and rebuild hope. The role provides patient-centered counseling and recovery support. Through individual and group sessions, intake and orientation, treatment planning, referrals, and accurate documentation, the counselor helps patients access care and community resources while supporting regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

• Provide individual and group counseling for people recovering from drug and alcohol disorders
• guide new and returning patients through intake and orientation
• connect patients with community resources and follow up on referrals
• develop and maintain individualized treatment plans and patient records
• assess patients’ social, educational, economic, and vocational needs
• respond to crises and complete required documentation
• comply with applicable regulations.

Why this role

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with a rotating Saturday shift; no nights or Sundays. Requires a bachelor's degree or higher and a Washington, DC credential such as CAC I, CAC II, LGPC, LGSW, LICSW, or LPC.
