Behavioral Health Counselor

The Behavioral Health Counselor role is onsite in Newkirk, OK; compensation is not specified. The position supports the Kaw Nation’s behavioral health services under the Health Director. The counselor provides individualized care across the lifespan, including counseling for individuals, groups, and families and treatment for substance use disorders. The role develops and adjusts treatment plans, coordinates with other providers, maintains confidential records, and connects clients with additional resources.

What you'll do

• Develop individualized treatment plans
• provide individual, group, and family counseling across the lifespan
• use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, or other approaches
• coordinate care with healthcare providers
• monitor progress and adjust plans
• educate clients and families
• maintain accurate confidential records
• identify barriers to recovery
• refer clients to additional resources
• stay current on behavioral health research.

Why this role

Requires a master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field and a current Oklahoma LCSW, LPC, or similar mental health credential. Experience treating children through adults and substance use disorders is required.
