Civil Engineer — Transportation Construction Oversight

The Civil Engineer — Transportation Construction Oversight role is onsite in Madison, WI; compensation is not specified. The engineer oversees transportation construction work to help ensure projects are completed accurately, on schedule, within budget, and to contract and quality requirements. The position also manages client and project relationships, supports staff development, and contributes to project development and business growth.

What you'll do

• Identify, market, and pursue transportation construction management projects
• assist with contract preparation and negotiation
• serve as resident engineer
• manage clients, projects, and support staff
• perform field layout, quantity verification, record keeping, pay estimates, contract modifications, construction meetings, materials acceptance and testing, WisDOT finals, QA/QC, and inspection
• assist with design and plan production
• mentor staff and participate in professional organizations.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with transportation or construction emphasis, 4–10 years of road or bridge construction experience, and willingness to travel out of town for projects. Wisconsin PE registration or ability to obtain within six months is desired.
