Peer Support Specialist

The Peer Support Specialist role is onsite in Baltimore, MD, with community outreach work. Compensation is $19.20–$21.15 per hour. The position is part of People Encouraging People’s Community Outreach team, serving people affected by substance use, mental health disorders, and homelessness.

What you'll do

• Conduct street outreach and provide engagement, individual and group peer support, and case management as needed
• build trust through consistent follow-up
• document client encounters and housing progress in HMIS
• coordinate referrals and care with community partners
• screen clients and complete program intake
• provide advocacy, resources, and harm-reduction support, including naloxone and test-strip training
• provide on-call or rotating shift duty for evenings, weekends, and emergencies.

Why this role

Requires a Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist credential, high school diploma or equivalent work experience, and a valid driver’s license with no more than four points. The role uses lived recovery experience and works within an interdisciplinary team.
