Social Worker — LMSW, Shelter Services

Compensation is $36–$38 per year. The Social Worker — LMSW role is onsite in New York City, NY. Westhab provides housing and supportive services to vulnerable community members; this position supports families with children in a homeless shelter. The social worker coordinates mental health and substance-use services, assesses client needs, and provides psychosocial treatment and crisis support. The role contributes to client well-being through treatment planning, referrals, workshops, and coordination with staff and community resources.

What you'll do

• Manage a small caseload of high-risk families with children
• facilitate weekly mental health and substance-use workshops and onsite support groups
• coordinate community and government referrals
• assess psychosocial functioning and needs
• formulate and implement treatment plans
• provide psychosocial treatment and staff consultation
• provide crisis intervention and stabilization as needed
• and maintain required documentation and reports. Some after-hours or weekend emergency follow-up may be required.
