Senior Landfill Engineer

Job overview

The Senior Landfill Engineer role is onsite in Maumee, OH; compensation is $43–$62 per hour. The Mannik & Smith Group’s environmental and solid waste team works on landfill projects for municipal and private-sector clients across Ohio and surrounding states. The engineer contributes to landfill permitting, design, construction, and operational support. The role prepares technical documents, supports construction quality assurance and environmental monitoring, and coordinates with junior engineers, field staff, and multidisciplinary teams.

What you'll do

• Design, permit, and provide operational support for solid waste landfills
• prepare permitting documents, construction plans, technical specifications, and certification reports
• oversee construction and perform construction quality assurance monitoring
• support groundwater, explosive gas, stormwater, and erosion-control efforts
• assist with landfill gas system design
• coordinate junior engineers and field staff
• collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Why this role

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, geotechnical, or related engineering and at least 5–7+ years of relevant experience; PE or EI/EIT certification is preferred.
