Accurate histories, testing, documentation, equipment upkeep, and communication of findings help physicians and the care team deliver efficient, informed eye care.

What you'll do

• Obtain and document patient history
• follow office workup protocols
• determine visual acuity and perform automated refraction
• administer prescribed eye drops, ointments, and irrigating solutions
• measure intraocular pressure
• prepare patients for pre-operative procedures as directed
• maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
• enter data into electronic medical records and provide direct patient services
• report symptoms or inconsistent test results to appropriate medical personnel
• maintain patient confidentiality
• travel to office locations as required.

Why this role

An associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or a related field and two to three years of ophthalmic or optometric technician experience are preferred. Travel between office locations may be required.
