Health Education Specialist II

Job overview

The Health Education Specialist II works onsite in Los Angeles, CA, full time, for $22–$23.75 per hour. The role supports the Community Health Programs within Health Services at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, whose mission is to help LGBT people thrive as healthy, equal, and complete members of society. The position provides HIV and STD testing and counseling, connects HIV-positive clients with medical care, and conducts community outreach. It contributes to health access and risk-reduction efforts through client follow-up, accurate records, and collaboration with community partners.

What you'll do

• Coordinate and conduct outreach activities
• build relationships with community businesses
• provide HIV/STD counseling, testing, and phlebotomy
• collect oral, blood, and urine specimens
• assist with test results and client follow-up
• maintain lab logs and enter risk assessment data in the electronic medical record
• triage HIV-positive clients to medical care and community resources
• assist with program reports and participate in community meetings.
