Engineer II — Pilot-Scale Development

The Engineer II — Pilot-Scale Development role is onsite in Durham, NC, at Research Triangle Park. Pay is $43.83 per hour. The role joins the client’s Pilot Scale Development team, supporting development lab runs and manufacturing of recombinant proteins at pilot scale (50–1,000 L). The engineer operates and supports end-to-end fed-batch platform development using stainless and single-use equipment. By planning and analyzing experiments, maintaining equipment, and supporting technology transfers, the role contributes to CMC milestones and pilot goals.

What you'll do

• Operate stainless and single-use equipment from thaw through drug-substance fill
• plan, document, and analyze experiments
• use modeling tools for process predictions
• assist with technology transfers to manufacturing facilities
• maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and commission equipment as needed
• support lab productivity and upgrades
• and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation projects.

Why this role

A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field is required; one year of lab or biotechnology-company experience is preferred. Sterile technique and biologics development experience are preferred.
