Configuration Specialist

The Configuration Specialist is an onsite role based in Hampton, VA, with a salary range of $120,000 - $150,000 per year. This role supports a technology team within the transportation technology space. This role exists to ensure software systems are properly configured, maintained, and deployed to support customer needs and business operations. The specialist will collaborate with engineering and DevOps teams to enable high-quality software releases across SaaS and embedded environments.

What you'll do

• Configure and maintain software applications and system settings
• Manage configuration baselines across development, testing, and production environments
• Ensure all changes are accurate, documented, and approved
• Support software releases and deployment activities
• Maintain configuration records, versioning, and release documentation
• Partner with Engineering and QA to ensure consistency across builds
• Develop and maintain configuration documentation, SOPs, and runbooks
• Ensure alignment with internal standards, security requirements, and best practices
• Work with Software Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and Customer Support teams
• Support implementation teams with configuration troubleshooting
• Diagnose and resolve configuration-related issues across environments
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Identify opportunities to improve tools, processes, and automation
• Contribute to enhancements in release and configuration management
• Configure multi-tenant SaaS environments and manage feature flags/settings
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
• Maintain configuration matrices and traceability across embedded systems.
