The Certified Substance Abuse Counselor role is onsite in Los Angeles, CA, with pay of $26.44–$27.83 per hour. Volunteers of America Los Angeles provides social services to communities in the Los Angeles area, including drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The counselor provides alcohol and drug treatment services, supports client and family participation in treatment planning, and documents care. The role contributes to coordinated, whole-person support through screening, counseling, crisis response, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary case management team.

What you'll do

• Conduct screening, assessment, intake, and counseling
• provide individual, group, and family counseling
• mentor clients and teach independent living and problem-solving skills
• coordinate treatment with case managers and therapists
• respond to crises
• plan discharges and transitions
• maintain timely, confidential records
• monitor medication self-administration and collect drug screens as required
• transport participants and support outreach activities.
