Job overview

The Emergency Veterinary Assistant role is onsite in Baltimore, MD. Compensation is $18.50–$44 per hour. Veterinary Emergency Group’s mission is to help people and their pets when they need it most. The assistant contributes to emergency and ongoing inpatient and outpatient care by supporting nursing tasks, monitoring patients, administering treatments and medications, and assisting with diagnostics and procedures under appropriate supervision. The role works alongside licensed veterinary technicians to support continuity and quality of patient care.

What you'll do

  • Provide compassionate patient and customer care
  • perform basic to intermediate nursing tasks, monitoring, and treatments
  • triage incoming patients using clinical observations
  • administer medications and support fluid therapy
  • participate in patient rounds
  • collect samples and perform diagnostic tests
  • assist with sedation and surgical anesthesia under LVT or DVM supervision
  • maintain catheters, oxygen equipment, and related care devices.
