Addictions Counselor

Job overview

The Addictions Counselor is an onsite, full-time role in Baltimore, MD, with pay of $30–$35 per hour. Tuerk House is a nonprofit behavioral health system providing recovery services to patients and families. The counselor plans and conducts individual and group substance-use counseling, assesses client needs, and supports treatment planning and recovery. The role coordinates with program leadership and outside agencies to help clients progress through the treatment system and access additional support.

What you'll do

• Maintain client assessments, case records, charts, and program forms
• coordinate urine sample collection according to protocol and chain-of-custody guidelines
• provide substance-use counseling, assessment, and education in individual and group sessions
• select educational materials
• collaborate with the Program Director on treatment plans and client status
• refer clients to additional support services
• coordinate with social agencies, managed-care organizations, hospitals, clinics, and courts
• complete required training and follow organizational policies.

Why this role

Requires Maryland Board of Professional Counselors certification as an LMSW, LGPC, or CAC-AD, at least two years of relevant experience, and a valid driver’s license. Some daytime and evening hours may be required based on business needs.
