Behavioral Health Counselor

The Behavioral Health Counselor role is onsite in Baton Rouge, LA, in an integrated care and Federally Qualified Health Center environment; compensation is not specified. The counselor joins Open Health Care Clinic’s Behavioral Health Department and reports to the Behavioral Health Manager. The counselor provides assessments, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, crisis support, patient education, and care coordination for mental health and substance use concerns. The role contributes to whole-person, culturally responsive care through collaboration with medical providers, nurses, case managers, social workers, and community partners.

What you'll do

• Conduct behavioral health assessments, screenings, and biopsychosocial evaluations
• develop individualized treatment plans
• provide individual, group, and family interventions
• perform crisis intervention, safety assessments, and de-escalation
• coordinate care and referrals
• document accurately and confidentially
• participate in case conferences, supervision, meetings, and training
• promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
