The position exists to identify, investigate, monitor, and report healthcare-associated infections while developing and sustaining infection-prevention strategies. Through surveillance, antibiotic stewardship, outbreak response, staff education, regulatory reporting, and quality-improvement work, the Infection Preventionist helps protect residents, staff, and visitors.
What you'll do
- Conduct infection surveillance and maintain infection logs, line lists, and reports
- develop and review the annual surveillance plan and infection-control policies
- complete required NHSN, CDPH, and county public-health reporting
- participate in antibiotic stewardship and review antibiotic orders and usage
- assess infection-control practices, conduct tuberculosis screening, and direct resident immunization activities
- perform facility rounds, hand-hygiene observations, and environmental audits
- investigate and report outbreaks and coordinate exposure follow-up
- provide infection-prevention education and competency processes
- participate in QAPI and quality-improvement committees.
