The Electrical Engineer, Substation role is onsite in Houston, TX. Compensation is not specified. This contract-to-hire opportunity supports a client’s engineering and design of new and modified high-voltage substations from 13 kV through 765 kV. Working under a licensed Professional Engineer, the engineer contributes from conceptual design through construction by preparing calculations, design packages, specifications, and other deliverables. The work supports safe, standards-based substation projects through technical design, coordination, field inspection support, and quality reviews.

What you'll do

• Support high-voltage substation projects from conceptual design through completion
• develop physical, above- and below-grade, protection and control, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, and security designs
• perform engineering calculations and related studies
• prepare sketches, specifications, cost estimates, bills of materials, and technical documentation
• apply IEEE, NESC, utility, and other applicable standards
• support field inspections, coordination, issue resolution, quality reviews, client meetings, reports, and proposal development as needed.
