The Lead Preschool Teacher role is onsite in Alexandria, VA. Pay is $24 per hour. Excel Preparatory Preschool Academy is a STEAM preschool focused on children’s intellectual and emotional development and provides education, physical health, emotional well-being, and parental involvement services. The lead teacher creates a positive educational environment and plans developmentally appropriate learning activities. The role supports children’s safety and development, works with families, and supervises and mentors assistant teachers in the classroom.

What you'll do

• Ensure children’s safety and respond to academic, cognitive, social-emotional, and physical needs
• engage children in developmental activities and play
• supervise children and assistant teachers
• plan and implement the Creative Curriculum
• conduct child assessments and parent-teacher conferences
• prepare newsletters, lesson plans, and daily sheets
• attend occasional parent participation events and other events that may occur at night or on weekends
• comply with accreditation and professional development requirements.
