The Registered Nurse (RN) – Day Shift works onsite at Lexington County Detention Center in Columbia, SC, on 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. day shifts with rotating weekends; compensation is not specified. MUSC Community Physicians provides healthcare across rural South Carolina. The RN delivers patient-centered nursing care in a secure correctional setting, leads assigned team members, and collaborates with multidisciplinary staff. The role combines assessment, care planning, treatment, education, and evaluation with facility safety, security, and documentation requirements.

What you'll do

• Assess patients and develop nursing diagnoses, outcomes, and care plans
• implement interventions, provide health teaching, and evaluate care
• direct and lead assigned team members
• deliver care to inmates and detainees while following facility safety and security protocols
• respond to emergencies within the secure perimeter
• manage care in intake, general population, segregation, and medical observation units
• coordinate safe inmate movement with correctional officers
• maintain control of sharps, medications, and clinical tools
• follow communication, boundary, and PREA expectations
• document care according to correctional medical record requirements.
