Construction Inspector — Telecommunications and Fiber

Job overview

The Construction Inspector role is onsite and primarily field-based in Harrisonburg, VA, with frequent travel to construction sites. Compensation is $70,000–$90,000 per year. The inspector supports Timmons Group’s Telecommunications and MRE Group. The inspector verifies contractor work on underground fiber, make-ready, and aerial fiber construction. Through field coordination, compliance checks, and accurate records, the role helps ensure work meets plans, permits, safety requirements, and applicable utility standards.

What you'll do

• Inspect underground construction and document depth, separation, backfill, markers, and tracer wire
• verify drawings, specifications, permits, traffic control, safety, and erosion control
• coordinate field issues with contractors, engineering, utilities, and agencies
• prepare daily reports, photos, and redlines
• verify quantities for invoice review
• report deficiencies and unsafe work
• support as-builts, testing, punch lists, and closeout
• inspect make-ready and aerial fiber placement
• track pole status in NJUNS.
