Animal Care and Experience Specialist

The Animal Care and Experience Specialist role is onsite in Phoenix, AZ, on the Arizona Humane Society shelter team. Compensation is not specified. The Arizona Humane Society’s shelter team provides complete care for shelter pets. The specialist maintains a clean, caring kennel environment and supports animals’ daily wellbeing through humane handling, positive interactions, mental stimulation, exercise, feeding, and habitat care. The role also helps the shelter team meet care standards by guiding volunteers and new team members and following established safety and cleaning procedures.

What you'll do

• Provide kind, compassionate, low-stress handling and positive interactions, mental stimulation, and physical exercise
• clean and sanitize the facility and animal habitats, including garbage, dishes, laundry, dog yards, and walkways
• feed and water animals and maintain habitats to departmental and organizational standards
• guide and work alongside volunteers and new team members
• use shelter software and follow animal-care, cleaning, chemical-handling, and safety procedures.
