The Outside Plant Project Engineer I role can be performed fully remotely; the listing location is Santa Rosa, CA. Compensation is $25–$28 per hour. The position is part of Sonic’s Plant Engineering department and supports outside fiber plant operations. The engineer coordinates engineering, permitting, contracting, design, and maintenance work for new building additions and fiber facility relocations. The role helps develop and upgrade outside plant facilities while coordinating with utilities, agencies, contractors, and internal project partners.

What you'll do

• Apply telecommunications standards and government codes
• coordinate with utilities, government agencies, and contractors on shared or joint-use facility placement
• serve as a liaison among Sonic, engineers, construction managers, contractors, and public utility companies
• resolve project delays
• read and interpret outside plant records, data, and maps
• support design and development of outside plant installations, modifications, and upgrades.
