The Structural Engineer – Mid to Senior Level role is based onsite in Midlothian, VA, in the Richmond area, with a salary range of $130,000–$160,000 per year and a 10% discretionary bonus target. Progressive Design is a heavy industrial engineering and design consulting firm serving industrial clients. The engineer performs civil and structural design work and supports multidisciplinary projects from early design through construction support. The role contributes accurate drawings and project documentation while helping manage scope, schedules, budgets, and client coordination.

What you'll do

• Perform civil and structural design duties on standalone or multidisciplinary projects
• assist project managers with estimates, schedules, material lists, design concepts, drawings, and documentation
• conduct field work and technical research
• maintain project files
• ensure deliverable accuracy and completeness
• track scope, schedules, and budgets
• collect and verify field design information
• provide temporary engineering support during construction when assigned
• assist with cost estimates and preliminary studies
• interface with clients
• check drawing accuracy and quality.

Why this role

Requires an ABET-accredited civil or structural engineering degree and 5+ years of heavy industrial structural engineering experience. A Virginia Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required. AutoCAD, Revit, 3D CAD, or RISA 3D coursework is preferred.
