Senior Mission Design Engineer

Job overview

The Senior Mission Design Engineer role is onsite in Redondo Beach, CA, with annual pay of $120,000–$180,000. The engineer works within Impulse Space’s Mission Design & Flight Dynamics team in Autonomous Systems, partnering with Business Development and Engineering on in-space servicing missions. The role exists to design and optimize mission concepts that meet customer requirements and are technically robust. It contributes to proposals and engineering development through mission analysis, customer engagement, trajectory and maneuver planning, requirements verification, and spacecraft simulation tools.

What you'll do

• Design mission concepts to achieve customer objectives
• track technical performance and capabilities of product lines
• build tools to analyze and visualize mission design results
• integrate mission design into written proposals
• meet customers to capture requirements and feedback
• evaluate and improve mission concepts
• partner with Engineering on spacecraft simulation and trajectory optimization tools
• collaborate with Business Development on customer needs and proposal approaches
• perform CONOPS development, maneuver planning, trajectory optimization, requirements verification, CAD fit checks, propellant and power budgeting, and link budget analysis.
