Principal Network Engineer

The Principal Network Engineer role is onsite five days per week in Charlotte, NC. Compensation is not specified. As the client’s senior-most technical authority for enterprise networking and network security, the engineer designs and manages secure, resilient connectivity across branches, data centers, cloud services, contact centers, and digital banking platforms. The role provides technical leadership, incident escalation, mentoring, and modernization guidance while supporting operational performance and regulatory compliance.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network architectures
• develop network roadmaps, standards, and engineering procedures
• architect routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, and perimeter security solutions
• serve as a subject matter expert for Palo Alto and Fortinet platforms
• implement Zero Trust principles and segmentation
• support audits, security assessments, and vulnerability remediation
• design secure Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS, and third-party connectivity
• lead incident escalation and root-cause analysis
• establish monitoring and capacity planning
• support disaster recovery and business continuity
• mentor engineers and lead infrastructure projects and vendor engagements.
