The Light Rail Vehicle Maintenance Technician role is onsite in Hyattsville, MD, with compensation of $31–$33 per hour. The technician supports maintenance and testing of the Purple Line fleet and shop operations. The role helps keep light rail vehicles and associated equipment safe, reliable, and functional through inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, repairs, diagnostics, and testing. It also documents work and responds to maintenance emergencies under established procedures.

What you'll do

• Inspect, maintain, overhaul, and repair light rail vehicle mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and HVAC systems
• maintain shop equipment
• use diagnostic software for troubleshooting and system updates
• review blueprints, parts lists, and technical manuals
• operate shop equipment and vehicles
• assist with vehicle delivery and movement
• operate vehicles for testing and maintenance maneuvers
• document work orders and inspections
• identify defects and take corrective action or escalate issues
• respond to maintenance emergencies
• maintain a clean and safe workspace.
