AI Architect

Job overview

The AI Architect role is onsite in Colorado Springs, CO. Compensation is $145,000–$180,000 per year. SARA is a defense research and development enterprise that creates technology innovations for commercial and government organizations; this role supports its High Power Electromagnetics Division and enterprise AI capability. The architect advances secure, production-ready AI systems by leading initiatives from requirements through deployment and ongoing improvement. The role works with technical and business stakeholders to integrate enterprise data, establish governance and evaluation practices, and deliver AI workflows that improve decision-making and efficiency.

What you'll do

• Advance enterprise AI strategy, roadmap, and architecture standards
• lead assigned initiatives from discovery through deployment and support
• identify and prioritize AI use cases with stakeholders
• architect and maintain secure onsite and private LLM deployments
• evaluate AI tools, models, and platforms
• design RAG pipelines, data integrations, model hosting, and inference workflows
• develop secure application and database integrations, including MCP interfaces where appropriate
• partner with IT and cybersecurity on security and governance
• establish evaluation methods
• maintain usage guidelines and documentation
• support training and adoption
• monitor and improve deployed systems.
