Senior Systems Administrator

Job overview

The Senior Systems Administrator role is onsite in Herndon, VA; compensation is not specified. The position reports to the Director of Information Technology and supports the IT department’s enterprise infrastructure. The administrator maintains secure, reliable server and cloud-integrated systems, addressing performance, availability, recovery, and cybersecurity needs. The role also supports infrastructure projects and provides technical leadership and mentoring to junior administrators.

What you'll do

• Administer Windows Server environments and physical and virtual servers
• manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity services
• support VMware vSphere, Proxmox, Azure, and Microsoft 365
• perform upgrades, patching, and security remediation
• monitor and troubleshoot systems
• maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions
• apply DoD RMF cybersecurity practices
• develop automation scripts
• coordinate builds, migrations, and refreshes
• maintain technical documentation
• collaborate with network and cybersecurity staff
• and mentor junior administrators. Participate in scheduled maintenance windows and provide after-hours support as required.

Why this role

Requires active TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship; bachelor’s degree or equivalent substituted experience; eight or more years of relevant experience; and specified DoD 8140/8570 certification. Travel between customer sites is required.
