Verification and Validation Lead

The Verification and Validation Lead role is hybrid in Santa Cruz, CA, with onsite work three days per week. Compensation is not specified. Reporting to the Head of Software & Controls, the role supports Capstan Medical’s robotic platform for minimally invasive heart valve treatment. The lead owns the verification and validation strategy and execution that demonstrate the platform meets requirements and safety expectations. The work coordinates engineering, quality, regulatory, clinical, and human factors teams and produces evidence for regulatory submissions and patient-safety needs.

What you'll do

• Own verification and validation strategy for software, systems, and design validation
• manage timelines, resources, and deliverables
• improve processes, templates, and infrastructure
• mentor V&V engineers
• partner with systems engineering on verifiable and traceable requirements
• collaborate with regulatory affairs and risk management
• plan and execute design validation activities
• represent V&V in design reviews
• design and execute software test protocols and bench tests
• maintain requirements traceability matrices
• develop unit, integration, and system-level test strategies
• author and review protocols and reports
• advance automated testing integrated with CI/CD while maintaining design controls.
