Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher role is onsite in Harvey, IL, with compensation of $27–$35 per hour. The position supports Children’s Habilitation Center’s education program for infants and children with medical complexities and intellectual disabilities. The stated schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The teacher develops and implements individualized educational programming to promote student potential and success. The role contributes through differentiated instruction, classroom planning and evaluation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate student documentation.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement educational programs and curriculum consistent with student needs and state and local guidelines
• use differentiated teaching strategies
• participate in IPP, IEP, and FIE conferences and assist with interdisciplinary conferences
• complete required documentation and maintain records
• plan, implement, and evaluate classroom activities
• recommend equipment, assistive technology, modifications, accommodations, and supplies
• assist with and participate in field trips
• maintain a current LBS-I teaching certificate.
