Personal Support Specialist (PSS)

The Personal Support Specialist (PSS) role is in person in client homes in Fairfield, ME and the Somerset County area. Compensation is $17–$20 per hour. MaineTouch provides in-home support to adults and seniors to promote safety, independence, and stability. The role provides hands-on, non-medical assistance according to each client’s authorized care plan, supporting daily living, mobility, household routines, meals, companionship, and safe care at home or in residential settings.

What you'll do

• Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and transfers
• help with light housekeeping, laundry, dishes, and linens
• assist with meal preparation, serving, grocery shopping, and errands as outlined in the care plan
• provide companionship
• observe and report changes or safety concerns
• follow service plans, document accurately, follow infection-control and safety guidelines, maintain confidentiality, and respond appropriately to emergencies.

Why this role

No experience is required and training and support are provided. An active Maine PSS certification or willingness to enroll in training within 60 days is required; an active or inactive CNA is accepted. Flexible shifts may range from 2–40 hours per week, including day, evening, weekend, and overnight shifts.
