Job overview
The Policy Law Clerk, Spring 2027 role is hybrid, with in-person work at the Children’s Law Center office in Washington, DC. The clerkship is unpaid and may be taken for academic credit; hours are flexible. Children’s Law Center uses the law to address urgent problems facing children and families and to improve systems affecting their lives. The clerk supports the Policy Program through legal research and writing, oversight work, legislative engagement, and assistance with testimony. The work contributes analysis and practical support to policy positions and recommendations intended to meet the needs of District children.
What you'll do
- Research and write about legal issues
- interview clients and witnesses
- attend external meetings and DC Council legislative meetings and committee hearings
- assist with drafting written testimony
- support oversight activities related to local agency performance and budgets
- work under one-on-one supervision by a Senior Policy Attorney.
