Swiss Machinist Lead – CNC Prototyping

Job overview

The Swiss Machinist Lead role is onsite in San Jose, CA. Compensation is $38–$50 per hour. The role supports an engineering and prototyping operation and an onsite team of approximately eight engineers. This hands-on position owns Swiss CNC machining capabilities and helps engineering move designs through prototyping, testing, and production-ready process development. It combines programming, setup, machining, inspection, and technical lab support in a prototype environment.

What you'll do

• Program, set up, and operate a Star SR-20II Swiss-type CNC lathe and bar-feeding equipment
• write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code at the machine
• prepare tooling, workholding, offsets, and bar feeders
• develop prototype and preproduction machining processes
• prove out programs and produce first articles
• optimize machining sequences and tooling
• inspect parts with precision equipment
• support testing and laboratory workflows
• help establish CNC and lab procedures
• track materials and samples
• troubleshoot equipment and workflow issues
• operate supporting shop equipment when needed.
