The Pastry and Dessert Cook – Substitute role is onsite in Montpelier, VT. Compensation is at least $17.55 per hour. Hunger Mountain Cooperative’s bakery and kitchen team supports department sales, margin, labor, and customer-service goals. The cook prepares and presents bakery items using established recipes, packages products for retail sale, maintains displays and food-safety practices, and serves customers. The substitute position fills planned and unplanned staffing needs, with hours depending on the Co-op’s needs and the employee’s availability.

What you'll do

• Prepare and package bakery items according to assigned recipes
• communicate ingredient information and ensure signage and pricing
• stock displays
• offer samples and product suggestions
• maintain sanitary, orderly kitchen areas and follow safety, storage, labeling, and freshness procedures
• attend department meetings.
