This role is responsible for the design, development, testing, and commissioning of industrial process automation systems, serving as a technical lead on assigned projects.
What you'll do
- Support Sales in driving automation upgrades and digital service product growth
- Participate in the sales phase of projects
- Develop detailed Process Functional Descriptions (FDs)
- Design automation software
- Coordinate with product departments
- Ensure compliance with GEA Process Automation standards
- Conduct software testing
- Collaborate with electrical designers
- Create requisitions for automation and electrical equipment
- Assist with electrical testing
- Coordinate and inspect work performed by electricians
- Commission instrumentation, electrical, and control systems at customer sites
- Perform I/O checkout
- Support close-out of automation punch-list items
- Assist with operator and maintenance training
- Provide technical troubleshooting and on-site support
- Act as Automation Lead on assigned projects
- Manage automation and electrical engineers
- Monitor team tasks
- Generate project schedules
- Provide detailed project information to Project Managers
- Support scope change identification
- Continuously evaluate projects to identify cost-reduction opportunities
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Manage project document control
- Utilize tools, templates, and documentation defined by GEA standards
- Assist in preparation of O&M manuals and spare parts lists
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications, applicable regulations, and GEA Environmental Health & Safety and OSHA requirements
- Prepare RFQs and support Procurement
- Work closely with process engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Support the service organization
- Deliver technical or project progress presentations.
What we're looking for
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience
- Typically, 5+ years of experience in a similar automation engineering role.
