What you'll do

• Examine, interview, and measure patients
• fit, test, and adjust devices for fit, function, and comfort
• instruct patients in device use and care
• design devices based on prescriptions and patient assessments
• maintain records to ABC and CMS standards
• make and modify casts
• select materials and components
• consult with physicians
• repair, rebuild, and modify appliances
• construct devices or supervise construction
• train and supervise assistants and technicians
• maintain inventory
• attend conferences and seminars to update skills.
